May 2023 Fishing Report

Some great sport is being had at the fishery with prolific hatches of buzzers and other insects.  The warm overcast days are more productive for surface sport.  In cool or bright conditions intermediate or sink tip lines are most successful with weighted nymphs and mini lures.

The largest trout of the month was taken by local angler Mr Frost.  The trout tipped the scales at 5lb and was taken on an Olive Fritz.

Mr Buttle, of Plymouth,  landed four good rainbows for 15lb fishing a Hemo Buzzer and Mini Cat.

Mr Snell, of Plymouth,  landed five rainbows for 13lb 14oz on a Blue Flash Damsel.

Mr Twine, of Liskeard, landed a five fish bag for 11lb 5oz on Buzzers and a Mini Cat.

Mr Husband,  of St Austell,  landed nine rainbows for 18lb on Damsel Nymphs and Buzzers.

Many anglers have commented on the good quality fish and how hard they are fighting.  Booking is a requirement to fish Mallard Lake.  Unfortunately Teal Lake remains closed at this time.
